Royal Botanical Garden, Kuwait
The Bicentenary Glasshouse at Wisley Garden in London is often visited by delegations from abroad. In Kuwait, it was decided to build a similar botanical glasshouse in the gardens of the Emir’s Bayan Palace.
An ambitious conceptual plan was developed and illustrated in a Flipper Book.
The second design conforms more to the available budget. The glasshouse has six climate zones with the appropriate plants and trees.
In the central component:
- A mountain and rock garden with a large waterfall
- A Mediterranean European garden
In the left-hand component:
- A desert garden
- A Central European garden
In the right-hand component:
- A tropical garden
- A tropical forest garden
The indoor temperature is kept within limits using special double glazing, shading and cooling.
